Easy Party Foods for July 4th!

It’s the Nation’s birthday. All your friends and family are over to celebrate. The beer is cold and everyone’s hungry, but what are you making? Don’t worry, the culinary geniuses here at RISE have got you covered with some tasty and easy recipes you can make in a flash (and impress your guests)! Who knew realtors were so multi-talented? 


Bison Burgers

Healthier for you than beef and full of flavor, bison is our nation’s native bovine and tastes darn good in a burger. 

 

Ingredients:

2lb ground bison meat

1 x half onion (diced)

4 x garlic cloves (diced)

1 x TBSP BBQ sauce

½ x TSP olive oil

½ x TSP lemon juice

Salt and pepper (to taste)  

 

Instructions:

  • Mix all the ingredients in a bowl.
  • Shape mixture into individual patties
  • Grill on each side for 5 minutes

 

Bean Salad 

Keeping everything on our home continent, beans are an amazing source of protein and flavor. A sure party favorite!

 

Ingredients:

1 x can of kidney beans

1 x can of pinto beans

1 x can of white beans

1 x can of chickpeas

4 x garlic cloves (diced)

1 x half onion (diced)

2 x TBSP lemon juice

2 x TBSP orange juice

2 x TSP olive oil

1 x TBSP balsamic vinegar

1 x TBSP white wine vinegar

1 x TSP chili powder

1 x TBSP honey

Salt (to taste)

 

Instructions:

  • Mix all the ingredients in a bowl.
  • Serve

 

Tuna Steak

Inject a little Pacific flare to your celebration with these super tasty tuna steaks.

 

Ingredients:

4 x tuna steaks

1 x small ginger root (shaved)

2 x garlic cloves (diced)

1 x TPSP pineapple juice

2 x TPSP soy sauce

2 x TPSP sesame oil

 

Instructions:

  • Mix the marinade ingredients in a bowl
  • Glaze tuna on both sides with marinate
  • Drizzle remaining marinade over steaks
  • Marinate for four hours
  • Grill on each side for 5 minutes

 

Caprese Salad

Embrace Rhode Island’s Italian-American heritage with the ever-popular caprese salad!

 

Ingredients:

4 x beef tomatoes

2 x mozzarella cheese log

2 x garlic cloves (diced)

1 x packet of fresh basil leaves

2 x TSP olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

 

Instructions:

  • Slice the tomatoes into thick slices
  • Slice the mozzarella log into thick slices
  • Arrange the tomatoes and mozzarella on a serving platter
  • Place fresh basil leaves on top of the mozzarella and tomato slices
  • Drizzle with olive oil
  • Sprinkle with salt and pepper
  • Sprinkle garlic over the top

 

Drunk Mushrooms

They taste as fun as they sound! PS. If you want to make it on the grill, you’re gonna need a cast-iron frying pan.

 

Ingredients:

1 x packet of sliced shiitake mushrooms

2 x garlic cloves (diced)

1 x half onion (diced)

2 x TSP olive oil

1 x lump of butter or butter alternative 

1 x sprig fresh rosemary 

3 x TBSP white wine

Salt and pepper to taste

 

Instructions:

  • Heat the butter and olive oil in the frying pan
  • Place the mushrooms, garlic, and onions once the butter and oil bubbles
  • Sautee mushrooms on each side for 2 minutes
  • Add wine, rosemary, salt, and pepper
  • Cook until liquid has reduced and mushrooms are soft
