Winter Activities in Rhode Island

Winter Activities

The groundhog has spoken! 2022 is gonna be one of those winters… To keep you from getting too cabin fever-y until the spring, here are a few neat ideas of how you can pass the time with some Rhode Island winter activities that all the family can enjoy!

Yawgoo Valley Ski Area & Water Park

Skiing, snow boarding, or tubing? Rhode Island’s only ski resort is a perfect winter option for anyone who loves that fine, white pow’. With 12 trails over one peak, Yawgoo is designed to suit all tastes, styles, and abilities – you can even get lessons. The slope opens at 9am, seven days a week, with late night (8pm) closing Tuesday through Saturday.

Foolproof Brewing Company

Foolproof is beer paradise, and with 20 beers on tap, everyone has something to choose from. Plus, the brewery is located in Pawtucket, so it’s right there in the middle of everything. But because your GPS might have hard time finding it, here is a direct connect to Google Maps to make sure you get there! Oh, and a little fun fact: each of their large fermenters is named after a famous comedian (hence the name!) Interested in trivia, DND, and pizza? They have all those options on various nights and through their mug club. Get after it!

PS… Want a behind-the-scenes tour of the tap room and brewery itself? Check-out our Pawtucket City Guide for some awesome visuals on the place!

The Arctic Playhouse

The Arctic Playhouse is Rhode Island’s “speakeasy” theater (to quote founder, Jim Belanger), and has the aesthetic to go with it. The theater is currently running the hysterical comedy Exit Laughing by Paul Elliott, and recently announced plans to expand their footprint. A true gem in West Warwick.

Grainsley’s Kitchen and Drinks

Hungry? Head to Comminicuit Village to enjoy the pub-style food craft of Grainsley’s Kitchen + Drinks. This welcoming spot on West Shore Road showcases the creative food of owner, Daniel Holleran – including Rhode Island’s ONLY pub style pizza. RISE Top Tip: order a Comminicuit Girl cocktail to go with your pizza. You won’t regret it.
