What is Negotiation in Real Estate?

What-is-Negotiation-in-Real-Estate

What is the goal of a negotiation?

To get to the closing table.

That’s what everybody is looking for in a real estate transaction: the goal of the buyer is to get the house and the goal of the seller is to sell their house.

Many times, buyers and sellers bring drama. They want to be the tough guy or tough gal negotiator. They want to win. They’re going to be aggressive and they’re going to be abrasive, and it’s going to turn people off.

It’s also the quickest way to lose the deal altogether.

Here’s the key to a successful negotiation in real estate: It’s called cooperation.

When you’re actually nice to the other side, and you let them know what you’re trying to do, and you’re trying to come up with a win-win for everybody so you can get to the closing table, the negotiations are going to be a lot smoother and a lot less stressful.

So, instead of trying to win everything, try to complete the sale.

Because that’s what you wanted in the first place and it is my responsibility to make that happen.

When you keep your sights on the end result, your negotiations are going to be a lot stronger and you’ll end up with a successful transaction.
