New Year, New… Homeowner Practice? With New Year’s resolutions flying around, here are 7 resolutions you can make to ensure your home is happy and healthy going into 2023!
1. Replace the furnace filter:
Furnace filters should be replaced at least every 3 months to ensure that your system is running efficiently and air quality in your home remains clean.
2. Clean up the outside of your home:
Regularly remove debris from around your house, especially near windows, doors and other areas where pests may enter or be attracted to. You may also want to consider getting your gutters cleaned or doing some landscaping to spruce up the appearance of the exterior of your home.
3. Check on appliances:
Make sure all of the major appliances in your home are still functioning correctly by checking them regularly. This includes your refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, washer, and dryer.
4. Inspect the roof:
Have a professional inspect your roof every 5 years or so to make sure it is still in good condition and properly sealed from outside elements.
5. Seal windows and doors:
Make sure you’re sealing all of your windows and doors with weather stripping or caulk. This will help keep the temperature in your home regulated and save energy.
6. Check for pests:
Be sure to check for any signs of pests, such as ants or mice, on a regular basis so that they don’t become a problem. If you do notice any signs of pests, call an exterminator right away before the problem gets too out of hand.
7. Update lighting fixtures:
Replace old or outdated light fixtures with newer, more energy-efficient models to keep your home looking fresh and modern. Not only will this help save you money on your electricity bills, but it will also make sure that all of the lights in your home are safe and working
