You’ve Decided to Sell Your Home… What’s Next?

By Kyle Graves

You are ready to sell your home. Now what? To get started, find yourself a reliable listing agent. Asking friends and family for a referral could be helpful, but researching sites like Zillow to find a local Zillow Premier Agent is a great start.

Once you’ve discovered an agent, have a chat over the phone or in person with them so you can see if their services are appropriate for your needs.

𝑲𝒆𝒆𝒑 𝒊𝒏 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒅, 𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍 𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒊𝒔 𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒒𝒖𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒂𝒚 𝒓𝒆𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒓𝒆 𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒆𝒅 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒅𝒆.

When you’ve decided this agent is the one, have them come to your home and tour the property. This allows the agent to see the layout, condition, and location of your home, and will be helpful when determining things like a marketing plan, timeframes, the property’s market value, and so on.

📍What plans and strategies will you use to market the property to potential buyers?

📍What resources does your brokerage provide that adds value to the transaction?

📍How much time should we expect from listing to closing?

📍And the question all sellers want to know, what is my property worth?

All these questions should be answered before you move forward.

Once you’re positive your realtor can sell your home, it’s time to sign the listing agreement

This contract will contain details about who is involved in the sale, important dates and deadlines, contract terms, fees, and the property’s list price.

Once this document is signed by everyone relevant to the deal, it gives your realtor the green light to start prepping your home for the active market!
